New Delhi: A woman gave birth to a baby girl in a train coach at Anand Vihar railway station on Thursday. Railway Protection Force (RPF) Inspector Shailendra Kumar said that we received information about a woman in labour pain from a train going from Anand Vihar to Saharsa. Our female sub-inspector went there with other staff and the delivery was done with the help of other women present in the coach. Later the ambulance came and we sent them to the hospital. Both the newborn and the woman are healthy.

RPF female sub-inspector facilitated the delivery with the help of passengers

RPF sub-inspector Naveen Kumari said that when I received the information, I was on duty. A passenger came to me and told me that a woman was about to deliver on platform number seven. After this I called the ambulance. This incident happened at 11:15 last night. I also reached the spot with a woman constable. A woman was lying on the floor in D-9 coach. A woman from Samastipur in Bihar was in labor pain. With the help of a police constable and other women present in the coach, we helped in the delivery and later we sent them to the hospital.

There was no doctor during delivery

Naveen Kumari said that the woman was delivered in the train coach itself. There was no doctor on the spot at that time. At present both Jajja and the baby are healthy. The woman has been admitted to a hospital.

A child has been born in a train earlier too

Earlier, a 28-year-old woman gave birth to a baby girl in the toilet of a train running near Thane in June 2024. The woman was traveling in the two-tier AC coach of Pawan Express with her husband Mohammad Farooq (30) and younger daughter. The Sion resident was going to Darbhanga for a family function. Farooq said that he had got approval from his wife's doctor for this long journey to Darbhanga. A few minutes after the train started, my wife complained of severe pain in her stomach and asked me to accompany her to the toilet.
