Shahdol, a teenager came in contact with the electric current while stealing an iron rod from a house under construction just behind Shreeji Plaza located at the bus stand and below the local Gharaula pond. As a result, one of his legs got badly burnt. This incident was reported by the people living nearby on Friday afternoon at around 3:15 pm. According to the information received regarding the incident, a teenager, aged about 15-16 years, a resident of Imli Tola which is situated near Gharaula pond, was busy stealing iron rods from the roof of the under construction house of Mukesh Gupta, son of Arjun Gupta. There was a 33 KV high tension electric wire line above the same roof. As soon as he tried to pick up a piece of iron rod and throw it behind the under construction house, the iron rod touched the electric line. Due to which the light tripped and the teenager started burning. During this time, he fell down from the roof. On the other hand, the electric pole from which the power line of Mukesh Gupta's under construction house was also started burning. After the commotion, the people living nearby came out of their houses and someone dialled 100 and also informed the electricity department about the incident. The police reached the spot in a hurry and the employees of the electricity department also came in their vehicles where a Panchnama was made. After this incident, the seriously burnt teenager was taken to Birsa Munda Medical College for treatment.
The companions of the thieves absconded...
After this incident, two other companions of the teenager who stole the iron rod fled from the spot. On hearing the news of the incident, Councilor of Ward No. 19 Sushil Rajak alias Shillu also reached the spot. The people living nearby told that thefts were happening in their locality for a long time. Even on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, unknown thieves stole a silver necklace from the Hanuman temple near the incident site in broad daylight. Apart from this, sporadic incidents of theft often take place here.
