Saharanpur, Due to the ongoing protest by farmers on the Shambhu Border Railway route since April 17, trains coming from Punjab-Jammu have to be diverted between Sahnebal-Ambala Cantt. Due to which trains are reaching Saharanpur late. Many trains were cancelled.
Many trains including Jalandhar City Super Express have not operated yet. Now Railways has canceled trains till May 10. About seven thousand railway passengers have canceled their tickets. The number of online ticket cancellations is four times more. The Railway Department has already refunded more than Rs 80 lakh to those who had canceled their tickets.
Passengers are facing huge difficulties due to the closure of operations of Shalimar Express and New Delhi Express trains between Saharanpur and Delhi. There is no space to even step in the trains that are running.
