Under the guidance of District Supply Officer in-charge of Food Safety Administration Rakesh Ahirwal and Rajesh Patel, under the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, Food Safety Officer Madhavi Budhaulia, while conducting inspection, conducted a surprise inspection of the warehouse of Madhya Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Corporation located at Sagar Road, Damoh. Have inspected. Madhya Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Corporation District Manager BM Rathore and Civil Supplies Corporation center in-charge Anil Kumar Khare were present during the inspection.
During inspection, a copy of the food license was found stuck in the warehouse. Pest control system has been found in the warehouse. In the said government warehouse, double fortified Vanya Plus salt being distributed from the ration shop to the citizens under the public distribution system has been stored. Samples of double fortified Vanya Plus salt stored in stock at the premises have been taken for testing. The said salt samples have been sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory for testing.
The state government is providing double fortified salt Vanya Plus to consumers through ration shops in the public distribution system. Double fortified salt is prepared by adding iodine and iron in small quantities to ordinary salt. Deficiency of iodine in the human body causes disorders like goiter, dwarfism, mental disability, miscarriage, deafness, poor hearing, lack of intellectual ability etc. These diseases can be avoided by the use of iodine salt. Similarly, anemia occurs due to lack of iron in food. To prevent these diseases, all citizens should use only double fortified salt containing iodine and iron in their food every day. Proper maintenance of double fortified salt is important and while using it, salt should be kept only in an air-tight container and a dry spoon should be used.
He said that it is necessary to keep salt away from gas stove and sunlight. Salt should not be left in the open. The black visible grains in the said double fortified salt contain iron nutrients, due to which the food appears to have a light black color while cooking. This black color does not make any difference in the properties of double fortified salt and there is no harm in using it in food, it does not make any difference in the taste, nutrition and qualities of the food.
