The embankment of the Jirayan river broke in Nalanda
On Saturday, due to the rise in the Panchane river, floods wreaked havoc in 10 localities of the lower area of the district headquarters. The affected people were not able to recover from this that on Sunday morning, the embankment of Jirain broke and the Khandha of Andi village of Asthawan got submerged. Kharif crops grown in 500 bighas got submerged. The people of Andi village, who are facing the tragedy of flood, say that water was leaking in the embankment since Saturday evening. After the information, the block level and flood control officials of the district administration reached the spot. But, no effective initiative was taken to stop the leakage. As a result, by morning, the embankment was eroded by more than 20 feet.

The farmers say that the innocent villagers are facing the brunt of the negligence of the officials. There is also a concern that if the water is not drained soon, the crops will be ruined. All the capital of hard work will be lost. The villagers told that due to the breaking of the embankment on Jirain river in Purbari Fatha Khandha of Andi village, there has been extensive damage to the crops. CO Ravindra Kumar Chaupal and Flood Control Department Executive Engineer Satish Kumar said that the water level of the Jirain river has decreased. Repair of the broken embankment near Andi is being done on a war footing.

Erosion in the embankment near Powari of Harnaut
Due to the fast flow of the Panchane river, the embankment near Powari of Harnaut got eroded. However, after the information, the broken embankment has been repaired by the Flood Control Department. This saved the crops in the fields from drowning. Farmers say that if the embankment was not repaired, a big loss would have been suffered.
Road leading to Jamsari village damaged
Due to the rise in the water level of the Jirain river and the fast flow of water, the road leading to Uttarthu, Barhog and Jamsari villages via Jirain Dhai Peepal of Bind police station area has been damaged. Due to the damage to the road, the movement of people living in these villages has come to a halt. People of the affected villages have to use alternative routes.

If the water level rises a little more, devastation is certain
The villagers said that whenever there is water in the Panchane river, devastation is caused in the Rahui area. However, this year, due to less water, farmers will benefit. But, near the bridge of Itasang, Dehra, Rahimpur, Dulchandpur and May village, water hyacinths are spread in the river for a long distance. However, at many places, the removal of water hyacinths has been done only as a formality. Water hyacinths can become an obstacle in stopping the flow of water. If the water hyacinths are not cleaned and the water level of the river rises by two feet, devastation is certain.
