Banka, Hardcore Naxal Ramesh Tudu, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh, was killed in a joint operation by police and STF in Kalothar forest of Katoria police station area of Banka district on Tuesday night. Peace came to the area after the killing of sub-zonal commander Mantu Khaira on 20 February 2017. But the Naxalites are again trying to strengthen the organization. A large part of Katoria, Chandan and Anandpur OP police station area is surrounded by forests, mountains and rivers. Due to dense forests, this area has been a safe haven for the Naxalites.
