He was posted in Mufassil police station for the last one year. He was a resident of Bhabua. It is being told that at 8 o'clock on Friday night, information was received that two parties were fighting with each other near ITC Nandlalpur over some issue. On this information, ASI Santosh Kumar reached the spot with the force and tried to convince both the fighting parties. During this time, one party attacked with a sharp weapon. Before the ASI could recover, he was attacked on his head several times. After this, he fell unconscious.

Meanwhile, fellow policemen hurriedly admitted Santosh Kumar to Sadar Hospital. Where the doctors gave him first aid and seeing his critical condition, referred him to Patna for better treatment. Santosh Kumar died while being taken to the police. After the incident, there was a stir in the area. Regarding the incident, Sadar SDPO Abhishek Anand said that information was received on Dial 112 of Mufassil police station that there was a fight between two families in Nandlalpura village. SI Santosh Kumar had gone with the police to resolve this matter. While resolving the dispute, a person from one side attacked his head with a sharp weapon, due to which he was seriously injured. He said that ASI has been referred to Patna for better treatment. He said that the police is conducting raids to arrest those who did this to ASI.

Before the Munger incident, a policeman was beaten to death in Araria late on Wednesday night. He was attacked during the raid. The deceased was Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajiv Ranjan of 2007 batch. Araria SP Anjani Kumar confirmed the death and said that he had a scuffle during the raid and died due to injuries after falling. Rajiv Ranjan had reached Manikpur in Fulkaha police station area to arrest the absconding accused, where a clash broke out between the police and the public. During this, Rajiv got injured. He was brought to Forbesganj in critical condition, where he died. After this, the police took action and arrested many people. The police had registered an FIR against 18 named people and 20-25 unknown people in this case.
